RallyCar Rallycross Championship at New Jersey Motorsports Park

This past weekend was the first event on what is surely to be the next big thing in automotive racing in the United States. While it marks the first time it has been done in the U.S., it has been going on in Europe for decades. In fact, rallycross is so big in Europe that it usually brings out 30k people and around 40 competitors. I’ve been a fan of European rallycross for quite some time now and this event has solidified my love for it.

While I’m a huge fan of stage rally – rallycross is undoubtedly more spectator friendly and RallyCar will be able to commercialize it. It’s also much easier to televise. I look forward to it taking off in the United States as well as all the new fans it will bring to traditional rally.

Rallying – Is it an obsession?

People wonder why I find rally so amazing and why I try to find ways to make it a part of my life everyday. As a spectator, there is nothing more exhilarating than watching man and machine trying to conquer nature at speeds most wouldn’t even dare to attempt. Its the rawness of a car. It’s the focus of driver and co-driver, and the ever changing environment trying to trick both. Its that fine line between a podium finish and a DNF. It’s that hope you have when entering a turn and the pride of successfully conquering it. Its the feeling that when you finally finish the last stage and the car is on its last leg and you, your teammate and machine come out on victorious.

That is why I love rally. That is why I love being a spectator. That is why I want to someday compete.

Both new 2008 Subarus OUT!

STPR was a blast! With the exception of being miserably hot, dusty, and over crowded, it was a success. With rallying being introduced into the X-Games, it seems like rallying in the States is finally taking off.

This year was the introduction of a super special stage at STPR. It was pretty cool to see cars trek around in the dust for a minute and 40 seconds. I can’t wait ’till next year to see it again!

We got news that BOTH 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI’s were OUT. Both had CATASTROPHIC REAR END SUSPENSION FAILURE. Ken Block was out after that. However, I guess Travis’ car was repaired… just in time for him to roll it.

One door closes, another one opens

Today was my last day at InfoGenius. To be honest, it was a pleasant, but tiring 2 1/2 years. Being it was my first job after college, I learned a lot of how the business world works. However, it was my time to move onto something that peaks my interest more.

Starting Monday, I’ll be the new website content technician and graphics designer at OK4WD. I’m pretty stoked about the position. Considering I am a huge rally geek, this is right up my alley. It will be an interesting transition, from a business type environment to a more social friendly environment surrounded with automotive enthusiast who share the same passion/borderline obsession.

This weekend I’ll be up in Wellsboro, PA at STPR. I’ll be sure to take a ton of pictures and videos!
